Definition Recross (Examiniation) - a second round of cross-examination that occurs after redirect examination.
Application in Divorce Recross examination is one of the alternating movements of a trial. After direct testimony, the opposing lawyer cross examines the person giving testimony. The first lawyer than may go back and question the individual again. This then can be followed by recross examination. The questioning can go on as long as the court permits, except that each time the lawyers can ask questions in amplification of what has been covered before.

The object of direct, cross-, redirect and recross examinations, each of which is an alternating element in the hands of the lawyers for both sides, is to get testimony on the record. Put another way, each is an attempt by each side to have the last and best word, and influence the thinking of the judge and jury.
