Custody in Texas
In Texas, the term "custody" is not used in the Texas Family Code. The term used in Texas is "conservatorship". Conservatorship defines the rights and duties of each parent in raising their children. One specific and important right is the right to determine the primary residence of the children. This "primary conservator" is what most people would call the person with "custody".
