Application in Divorce Forensics is a general term with several applications to the courts.

As used in law, forensics means argumentative and asserting a position, with reference to legal questions in engineering, linguistics, medicine, pathology and psychiatry. Anyone who testifies in a forensic basis is an expert witness who has be paid to appear in court.

As it applies to divorce and family law, forensics also refers a therapist hired to evaluate a family in conjunction with a custody question. This is known as a Custody Evaluation. The therapist states in court which parent he or she thinks should have custody of the child.
