Definition Bill of Particulars - the formal title for information attached to a complaint or petition.
Application in Divorce When filing a petition or complaint with the court there are various documents that can be attached. This include copies of any of the following: an existing protective order, an existing child support order, a child custody order, a marital settlement agreement, a marriage license, and a child support worksheet.

All divorces are unique and the filing procedures vary by state. It is this criteria that will determined what bill of particulars are presented to the clerk with a divorce filing. If they are not submitted with the petition or complaint, they can often be submitted at a later date, but this option will delay the processing of any case.

  1. Attaching Documents to the Petition or Complaint
    Most courts prefer to have these documents attached with a paper clip. Do not use staples unless you are told to do so by the clerk. Also certain documents must be a certified copy, especially any existing orders (support, protective etc.). This may require you to contact the ordering court and have a court certified copy mailed to you. Most of the time a photocopy of the original, will not be accepted.
